Checking out the Battle of Plattsburgh Commemoration

This past weekend was the North Country’s annual Battle of Plattsburgh Commemoration. The festivities started off on Friday morning with the Battle of Culver Hill Memorial Ceremony, where we recognized the sacrifices of the young American and British soldiers during the War of 1812. Later in the day, I attended the Battle of Plattsburgh mayor’s reception, where I was able to catch up with colleagues and friends. I was then honored to assist our North Country Honor Flight veterans off their bus and to their seats, where they were greeted and thanked by our community for their service. On Saturday, the festivities continued with the Battle of Plattsburgh parade and artisan market, where I checked out some great locally made goods. I finished up my busy weekend by checking out the reenactment site at the Kent-Delord House Museum in Plattsburgh, which provided an excellent opportunity to learn more about our local history.
