Assemblyman Jones visits Lake Placid

I started off my day in Lake Placid with a hearty breakfast from one of the many local restaurants in the North Country - the Farmhouse Cafe. This was a great beginning to a day full of interesting meetings and business visits in the area. For my first stop, I joined local leaders and Assemblyman Matt Simpson for a tour of the new Fawn Valley community housing project developed by the Homestead Development Corp. This project is designed to address the issues of finding affordable housing for middle-income families and essential workers, and I will continue to advocate for state resources for innovative projects like this that will help people get housing. Then, we visited Lake Placid Central School to learn more about what is happening at the school including the community school program. Superintendent Tim Seymour showed us around the elementary school and the middle-high school and told us about some of the issues they're facing and the great things happening in the school district. I want to thank all the faculty, staff, and administrators for all they do to help our kids succeed. My last meeting was with Chief Chuck Dobson, who gave me a quick tour of the Lake Placid Police Department. We also discussed some of the issues they are facing and their need for a bigger facility and also discussed getting them more resources. We also talked about preparing for big events like the upcoming World University Games. It was great meeting everybody and I will continue to push for more funding to help small police departments like Lake Placid.
